History of the Memorial

The following sites have been an invaluable source of help and information during my research.

Commonwealth War Graves Commission
Simple search to find men who died due to The Great War.

The Long Long Trail
and the LLT forum
The Great War Forum

The one and only site to visit when researching men, regiments, battalions of WW1. The forum contains some of the most remarkable and knowledgeable people I have ever had the privilege to encounter.

Stockport Soldiers who died 1914 - 1918
A site I hope to emulate with a remarkable depth of research and knowledge.

Hellfire Corner
Great reading for anyone interested in The Great War.

WW1 research Site
Another great read.

Geoff's search engine
Gives you the ability to search CWGC with greater search parameters.

The Manchester Regiment Group Forum
A forum dedicated to those that served with The Manchester Regiment.

Salford Council Forum
General family history forum for those who were born or lived in Salford.

Salford Lads Club
With records back to 1904, if you had family living in the Regent area, it is worth contacting the Salford Lads Clubs to see if they have information on any of your male relatives.

The Eccles Great War Memorials Site
Nice site, title explains it all.

National Roll of The Great War Manchester and Salford
"The National Roll of the Great War was published in 14 regional volumes. We have made the Manchester and Salford volumes available on Spinning the Web"

Old Salford
"This new site has been created to store memories and photographs of the past and present from Salford and the surrounding areas."
A big "thank you" to this site for permission to use some of their pictures.

North Manchester Battlefield Society
This site shows the trips/adventures of a gang of blokes who have a common interest in Battlefields and 20th Century History. We aim with this site to remember the fallen of all nations, but also to offer advice and insight for fellow travellers and battlefield nerds!
Be sure to click on the Salford and Manchester Memorial buttons for a fantastic insight to the many memorials in the Manchester area.
